This is the moment an egoist lives for — ball at your feet, defenders closing, open goal ahead. Move your striker up the pitch and juke past the markers to reach the net. Every goal drags another defender into the chase and cranks up the pressure. Get dispossessed three times and your run dies.

Training-ground classic: a line of cones and a ball at your feet. Weave through the gates as they rush toward you, threading the ball through each gap without clattering a cone. The course scrolls faster and the gaps tighten the longer you last. Clip three cones and the run's over.

A great striker kills the ball dead in one motion. Passes zip in from the arrow direction — flick the matching way to cushion each one into space before it bounces away. The balls come faster and the sequences get longer; let the ball get away from you three times and possession's gone.

No passing, no waiting — just run. Weave your striker through the wall of defenders, devour every loose ball, and snatch a Flow orb to double your points. One tackle and your run is over. How far can your ego carry you?

Great strikers live on scraps in the six-yard box. Loose balls spill loose all over the area — get there first. Slide onto each one before it's cleared and it's in the net, but dither and the chance vanishes. The balls come quicker and stay live for less time. Fluff three and the keeper mops up.

The killer pass is all about the split second. Your striker peels off the last defender and sprints in behind — release the ball late enough to send them clear, but a heartbeat too late and the flag goes up for offside. Too early and the defenders cut it out. Thread three balls wrong and the move breaks down.

Possession is a weapon. Your team keeps the ball while the defenders swarm whoever's holding it — tap a teammate to zip a pass into space before the lane closes. Thread it through and you keep the move alive; find your striker in gold near the box for the finish. Let a pass get cut out three times and you cough up the ball for good.

Your secret set-piece weapon: a launcher of a throw-in. A teammate peels off into the box at a different distance each time — judge the power and stop the meter so the throw drops right onto their run. Hit them in stride for the flick-on goal; over- or under-cook it and the defence heads clear. Miss five and the ref waves play on.

Now it's just you against the machine. The ball is yours — keep it away from a defender that doesn't chase where you are, it chases where you're about to be. Run straight and it reads your line and nicks the ball; the only way to shake it is to cut hard and make it overcommit on its lunge. Survive to build your score — the longer you hold, the more markers the NPC throws at you. Lose the ball three times and it's over.
